There is no Texas roofing license to look up
Unlike some states, Texas does not license roofing contractors at the state level. A Houston contractor pulls permits through the Houston Permitting Center and iPermits. That is the credential you can actually check: did they file, and under whose name?
The city has announced a voluntary registration program for roofing contractors. Registration is voluntary. We are not publishing a current insurance-dollar minimum for that program because the figure we found sits on an older announcement that also lists a desk address the city no longer uses. Confirm any current list and any insurance requirement with the Permitting Center.
What to ask before you sign
Which iPermits account will file the job, and which worksheet: CE-1104 overlay or CE-1109 re-roof.
Whether the work uses a torch or kettle, and if so, how they meet Houston Fire Department LSB Standard 11.
Who will be on site with the permit and worksheet when Structural Inspections arrives.
That they will not act as your public adjuster or advertise that they handle the claim. Texas Insurance Code 4102.163 forbids that dual role.
What we do and do not do
We are a referral service. We take what you tell us about the roof and pass it to a contractor who pulls City of Houston permits. We do not perform roofing work, we do not mark up the contractor's price, and we are not a party to your contract.
We do not handle insurance claims. We do not have a street address or a public phone. If you have a dispute with a contractor, that is between you, them, and the city or state office that actually regulates the conduct.
